THE POWER OF INTENTION
Good grief. After listening to two hours of talk radio regarding the power of intention — on Get Real Girls, the weekly 107.1 FM show co-hosted by Liv Lane and Colleen Lindstrom — I felt so inspired that I went right to my laptop. Within seconds, I’d entered a Facebook status report about an intention of my own. It’s out there in cyberspace at this very moment for all the world to see:
“I am setting my intention for a great literary agent — this or something better — right here and now, so I can talk about the outcome on their show down the road.”
It felt both uplifting and gutsy to do. And, minutes later, potentially crazy-making. Liv Lane is my daughter. Colleen I count as a friend. How to simply renege on that statement the same way I shimmy out of other declarations like, “From henceforth, I will live my life, sugar-free,” or “I am setting my intention (in my head) to wake every weekday at the ungodly hour of 4, well, make that 5, in order to write for a minimum of four, make that five hours of uninterrupted focus.” Ditto for meditating peacefully and exercising regularly and eating healthfully and journaling consistently and sleeping well.
I didn’t state this intention in my head. Or whisper it to my beloved. I wrote it for the masses and the ages. (It will be out there forever, correct?) So now I have to get serious. Or get playful. Whatever works. If not, I’ll hear about it. On the air.Explore posts in the same categories: Uncategorized
